There is no doubt that airbags can save lives and prevent many car crash injuries, but they have also been known to be the cause of injuries for both drivers and passengers.īelow we are going to talk about how airbags operate, things that can go wrong after deployment, and look into the nature of injury claims related to airbags. How an Airbag WorksĪirbags are created from light fabric. The steering wheel houses the driver’s airbag, and a panel on the dashboard houses the passenger’s. The driver’s side airbag is around the size of a beach ball when inflated, but the passenger’s airbag can be many times larger. This is largely due to the position of the passenger. They are further away from the dashboard, so it is necessary for it to be larger in order to properly protect the passenger. ![]() ![]() Some vehicles also have airbags located inside the doors of the vehicle. These are to provide further protection, especially in the case of a rollover accident.Ī crash sensor deploys the airbag when the car is involved in a crash that is serious enough to trigger it. It could be due to a head-on crash or similar intensity collision. Generally, airbags are triggered in crashes at around 8-10 miles per hour. ![]() In a particularly serious accident, the crash sensor triggers an igniter that produces gas, usually nitrogen or argon, which fills the airbag. The airbag only takes about 1/20th of a second to deploy fully, and this is why airbags come out at such rapid speeds. The sensor could malfunction and deploy the airbag during an improper time. There are many things that could possibly go wrong: What Can Go Wrong When an Airbag DeploysĪ notable deployment issue involves a malfunction of the crash sensor itself. Which means, we’ll have more than enough for charging a potential new Apple iPhone 15, both at home and on the road. The iPad has included the port for five years (time flies). Why they didn’t chose a more obvious set of names I do not know, but hey, never mind. It also comes in darktone, which is black to you and me. Quickshade comes in three shades, light tone, which is for shading light colours, strong tone, which is like a dark brown similar to Citadel Agrax Earthshade (basically, use this on 99% of all things). Which is especially great if you’re using it on metal models, or plaster of Paris castings! I’ve also found that the quickshade acts as a pretty robust varnish too. As the name implies, it allows you to quickly apply shade to the recesses of your model. Quickshade dip is best imagined as alternative to a traditional wash. I should also let you know that at time of writing I have only used Quickshade strongtone. Today I’ll be talking about my experiences with quickshade, telling you how I’ve found it to work, some things to avoid, some things to definitely do, and some expectation management. Quickshade dries with a glossy finish so you'll want to spray models down with a matte sealer.Welcome to another post in my How to series! If you're leaning on Quickshade to most of your shading you may lay it on thicker. I do some shading before using quickshade so use a light shade and I brush it on fairly thin, about the same thickness as you'd use to varnish wood. It will dry a little lighter and clearer than it brushes on. Quickshade will settle into the crevices of your model and bring the shade in. Buy a bit of mineral oil to clean your bushes with after you use quickshade and rinse them thoroughly after you clean them. DO NOT DIP YOUR $20 BRUSHES IN QUICKSHADE. They hold up pretty well to the stuff and when the brushes finally die I can throw them away with no sense of loss. I got a pack of Taklon fan brushes for $5. I spread on quickshade with a firm cheap brush. I don't dip, mostly because it's messy (Use a big drop cloth where you use this stuff) and because you're almost surely going to need to brush off excess quickshade anyway. You have to mix the devil out of it before you use it or the stain will separate. Quickshade works best at room temperature or warmer (Don't cook it). I started with quickshade and now just use furniture varnish. Very different from inks or other glazes and washes that are just acrylic pigments thinned in a medium.
